Life's Remote, Why not Hit the Road?

Updated: Jan 15, 2021

Hi All! I’m Sara, creator of the Salty Summit blog! Somehow you landed here and my goal is to inspire, help others, support small businesses and connect with my community. I have a passion to travel, explore off the beaten path and help others do the same. Before we get too far, let me start from the beginning.

As you may remember, somewhere around February/March/April time a global pandemic hit us and we completely changed our lives. As I’m sure many of you could relate, we went through waves of panic, fear, anxiety, frustration and I know I felt lost. My life went remote. We were sent home to work remotely, social life turned in to zoom happy hours, workouts happened from my living room and family reunions turned to meeting on FaceTime. We’ve been through it, but I know we will get through this, too.

This initial panic prompted me to brainstorm what my next life steps would look like. I was living in Seattle and paying city rent for a city I couldn’t explore, I was working, living and sleeping in my 8'x10' room. So I decided when my lease ended at the end of August 2020, I would line up Airbnb’s in new cities! I could pay just about the same amount for a new experience, continue to work and chase what I craved the most: Adventure.

After crashing with my parents for a month, my Airbnb adventure began on October 3rd, 2020. First stop: Seaside, Oregon. A small touristy town on the northern coast of Oregon. But holy cow, seeing the beach is healing, let me tell you. Next stop: Tucson, Arizona. Can you say sunshine and vitamin D! Third stop: St. George, Utah. National Park heaven and hiking galore!

I don’t want to dwell on the places too much because I have blog posts and itineraries for each place. But the point is, we can make lemonade from lemons, people! My next stop is to hit as many ski resorts as I can in Washington State, Utah and Colorado. Join my adventure and follow my blog for tips, tricks, recipes and maybe a funny story or two.

I’d love to connect with you on social media, check out my novice videos on TikTok and drop your email for newsletters! I’m taking life a month at a time, if you have a suggestion on a new city/mountain/or must do hikes - send me a message!

Until next time,

Creator of Salty Summit.
